Tech Comm Helps Researcher Patent New Burn Wound Treatment

One of the greatest threats to human health, antibiotic resistance impacts the success of medical care, including burn wound treatments. According to University of Minnesota School of Dentistry Professor Sven Gorr, half a million burns require treatment each year in the United States and these patients are at an increased risk of drug-resistant infections. To address this looming issue, he teamed up with former UMN Professor Conrado Aparicio to develop an antimicrobial hydrogel and worked with Tech Comm to secure a patent. They plan to keep working with Tech Comm to make their technology attractive to investors and bring the hydrogel to market.
