Office of University Economic Development
The Office of University Economic Development (UED) serves as the front door and more for economic development at the University of Minnesota.
We help business and industry partners connect with U of M resources, services, and expertise, and work with government and economic development partners to identify opportunities for collaboration that grow and diversify Minnesota's economy.
Minnesota’s economy will grow, diversify, and yield benefit to the state’s citizens—with the University of Minnesota pursuing innovative strategies to stimulate and contribute to shared economic success.
Strategic Action Plan
In 2015, UED visited with business and community partners across Minnesota to discuss the needs and priorities of local economies and to discover new partnership opportunities.
The result of these discussions is a strategic action plan that establishes a vision and strategic imperatives that create a framework for increasing statewide collaboration, partnership, and economic opportunity.
Implement best-in-class tools and systems that efficiently connect the University’s resources with Minnesota’s economic development drivers—businesses, associations, governments, and communities.
Catalyze Economic Development
Proactively identify new and ongoing opportunities to connect the resources of the University with business, government, and community leaders working to advance talent, innovation, and global trade.
Advance economic development in both Greater Minnesota and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul region by building upon work in progress across the University’s five campuses and prioritizing knowledge transfer activities.
