Brief Bio

I enjoy woodworking and pheasant hunting. I also enjoy riding motorcycle as well as working in the lab.

Future Plans

I plan on going into research in the animal science industry.

Why Research?

It has something that has been interesting. I saw it as an opportunity. I wanted to do it to test the water of research.

What Did I Get from Research?

I learned it is not always easy going. You have to learn as you go. Sometimes you have to adapt your approach. Turn your mistakes into something that will help you in the long run.

How Did I Start?

I was given his name when I went to a community college. I volunteered in his lab for a while. We talked about doing a UROP, and decided to go ahead with it.

My Advice for Another Student:

I advise going for some UROP program. It is good framework for learning how to do research. You learn how to write a research proposal. You also learn how to stay focused throughout the time you are given to do the project.

Research Summary

Exploring the tultune transposon. It’s a type of DNA, mobile in the genome. We were using a different type of transposon that transports DNA material. We then went ahead and studied specifically the tultune transposon in swine.
