Major

History

Mentor

Keith Mayes, Afro-American & African Studies

Brief Bio

I was born in Minneapolis and lived here my whole life. I enjoy reading and record collecting.

Future Plans

I hope to get my PhD in American studies.

Why Research?

I was really bored. It seemed like one way to get some money, and do something that seemed interesting.

What Did I Get from Research?

I got to visit New York City. I am almost done with the paper that I am trying to get published.

How Did I Start?

My faculty mentor was a guy I was already taking a class with. My research was on a topic that most of his research was based on.

My Advice for Another Student:

Just do it. Do not be intimidated.

Research Summary

I took a look at black American popular culture in the 1980’s.
