Research Abroad UROP

Research Abroad UROP is offered in partnership with the University's Learning Abroad Center. Research experiences outside the United States are sometimes organized by individual University of Minnesota faculty members. The Opportunity Gallery includes some research abroad possibilities. The Learning Abroad Center can also help current University students connect with organized programs for research outside the United States. One example is the EuroScholars' Program, which is organized by a number of well-known European universities.

Financial aid is available for some study abroad and research abroad activities. Students can obtain more information about financial aid from the Learning Abroad Center. In addition, Research Abroad UROP students can choose an individualized allocation of their UROP support between stipend and expenses, up to and including the entire $1700 as funds for travel expenses.

University of Minnesota students planning to do study or research abroad are advised to consult the University's policies on travel to areas on the U.S. State Department's Travel Warning list. More information about these policies and the countries involved are available here.
