Project Title: Childhood obesity prevention in the home environment

Research Description: I am a psychologist on the faculty of the School of Nursing. My research focuses on family health promotion, particularly childhood obesity prevention within the family context, environmental-level nutritional interventions, adolescent eating behaviors, and research methodology. Currently, I am the PI of an NIH-funded study, Healthy Offerings Via the Mealtime Environment (HOME), that aims to improve dietary intake and prevent obesity by promoting healthful family meals. I am also developing a tool to measure the quality of meals served at home in families with school-age children.

UROP Project: UROP project could vary by student, but may include a literature review, assisting with data cleaning and entry, working with data in statistical packages (SAS), writing a paper, being involved with dissemination of research.
