All undergraduate students are invited to participate in the Undergraduate Symposium to be held on April 18. Whether you are finishing your project or are mid-way through, describing your research in the form of a poster presentation is a valuable learning experience. Presenters from past years have reported that the symposium provided a capstone experience and closure to their research projects. Students whose projects were in a more formative stage found that the symposium provided them with insights, ideas, and inspiration through discussions with the scientists, colleagues, and guests who stopped by to view their posters.
To register for the Symposium and submit an Abstract:
1. Download the Powerpoint template and example.
2. Edit the template to include your information. Do NOT change the line that begins "Poster Number"
3. Save your edited Powerpoint file. Then use your software to produce a pdf file.
4. Email your Powerpoint file as an attachment to symposium@umn.edu. Please include in your email your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of Poster Session 1, 2 or 3.
Please make your abstract understandable on a basic level to a non-expert and avoid jargon, wherever possible. Abstracts should convey a sense of the bigger picture of research in your field, in addition to some detail on your contribution to a specific project. Please edit your work carefully for accuracy and check with your faculty mentor before submitting.
Deadline is Friday, March 28, 2008
The symposium is open to all undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota. For more information, please contact munro001@umn.edu
