Jim has over 25 years of experience in the development and commercialization of life science technologies. He began his R&D career at Molecular Genetics, Inc. (MGI) in 1981 where he managed three major plant research agreements with international agri-businesses. He also coordinated the first field trials of genetically engineered corn in the United States. After MGI, Jim served as the executive director of the Minnesota Biotechnology Association (MNBIO) where he successfully lobbied for industry initiatives at the Minnesota State Legislature, while leading a 400% growth in membership and revenue over five years.
Over the last decade, Jim has provided business development coaching to life science companies as a Technology Development Specialist at Minnesota Technology, Inc., an owner of McGee Creek Partners, and as a Business Relationship Manager at the Academic and Corporate Relations Center, University of Minnesota.
Jim received a Doctorate in Genetics from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California. He did post-doctoral research at the Department of Agronomy & Plant Genetics, University of Minnesota.
