Material Transfer Agreement Request Form A Material Transfer Agreement (“MTA”) is a contract that controls the transfer of one or more materials from the owner or authorized licensee to another party, generally an institution for research purposes.
The MTA defines such issues ownership of the materials and of the modifications and derivatives made by the recipient, confidentiality to protect intellectual property rights, and most importantly the rights to inventions and research results derived from the materials.
