About RSPP

RSPP provides administrative support to committees reviewing projects involving human or animal subjects. RSPP also supports researchers during their application process and throughout their active projects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Institutional Official for Subject Protection

R. Timothy Mulcahy has been designated as the Institutional Official for the University of Minnesota for the protection of research subjects. In this federally-mandated role, Mulcahy assumes operational authority for the IRB (Institutional Review Board), the IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee), and the IBC (Institutional Biosafety Committee).

In addition, Mulcahy is responsible for ensuring that institutional officers and federal regulatory agencies are aware of the activities of the two committees. He is also the resident expert on federal and institutional regulations involving the use of research subjects, acting as a consultant in service to the University research community when needed.
