Research Integrity and Oversight Programs (RIOP) advises the Vice President for Research and provides independent oversight and monitoring of research compliance activities both internally and across the system. Specifically RIOP's function is to:

  • Ensure that University employees are educated in policies, procedures, and legal requirements relevant to research compliance
  • Aid in the development and enforcement of research-related policies
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of OVPR research services
  • Work with others to coordinate U-wide research integrity and compliance functions
  • Develop a culture where members of the University view research integrity and monitoring as reinforcing their activities
  • Ensure that all units and individuals within RIOP operate effectively in support of research efforts conducted by University faculty
  • Align RIOP activities with the strategic vision of research articulated by University leadership
  • Maintain a comprehensive research compliance program that enables the University to promote a high level of compliance throughout its research programs
