About the Office of Regulatory Affairs

The Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) provides internal oversight on compliance issues related to the performance of research trials at the University of Minnesota.  The overall purpose of the ORA is:

  • To ensure the safety, rights and well-being of research subjects
  • To help ensure the quality and integrity of the research

This is accomplished through education, facilitation and monitoring study compliance with federal, state and local regulations as well as University policies.

ORA's research oversight at the University of Minnesota is achieved through the following components:

  • Using controlled substances in research
  • Research using animal subjects
  • Research using human subjects
  • Business and financial conflict of interest
  • Research occupational health program
