OAW was created in February 2009 as a unit of the Office of the Vice President for Research. OAW manages administrative support, inspection, and compliance functions for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). More>>

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews all projects involving animals to ensure that they are justified by their benefits and to minimize any animal pain that might occur. This includes research, teaching, and display of University of Minnesota-owned animals.
