About the IACUC Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of the IACUC Chair, the Institutional Official, the Directors of RSPP and RAR, the Veterinary Compliance Officer, and RSPP staff as well as other institutional officials concerned with oversight of research and the responsible use and care of animals.

The Committee meets as needed. The agenda for each Executive Committee meeting is set by the RSPP Director and reflects the current concerns of the institution, the administration, and individual members. The Executive Committee is regularly briefed on ongoing local compliance concerns and national level animal care and welfare issues as well as animal rights activities and associated security concerns.

The Executive Committee’s primary focus is to address policy and procedural issues, provide guidance to the IACUC, deal with issues of non-compliance, and facilitate program review and facility inspections.

The Executive Committee is instrumental in preparing for institutional accreditation visits.
