Database Search Help:
This search is performed by comparing the words entered in the search phrase to the source materials located in our database. The search phrase can be anything from a single character to a string of words. The database is searched for any instance of the characters within the text of the database fields. For example, if the search string is "cas" the search would return source materials containing the words "case", "briefcase", "suitcase", etc. Entering fragments of words will increase the number of source materials that will be returned; entering longer phrases will decrease the number.
The search form also contains several pull-down menus in the focus search on area. These pull-down menus can help streamline the search so that the results contain only source materials that are of interest. If all the pull-down menus are left at their default state (pointing to "all ... ") the search will be conducted on every field in the database, including all disciplines, all source material formats, and all issues. Select only the field, discipline, format, or issue of interest and only those source materials relevant to that category will be searched.
The database allows for more advanced searches using identified key words. These keywords are sub-issues within a given issue. Not all issues have keywords associated with them. These are the issues that have sub-issues and their related keywords:
You should not attempt to conduct a search by subject heading. If subject heading are of interest, click on instructional materials in the left menu and click on the appropriate subject heading.
