1. Fall 2009 Grants.gov/eSNAP/EGMS Lab Training Schedules

The Fall 2009 Grants.gov/eSNAP/EGMS lab training schedule has been set. These labs provide hands on assistance for users. Just bring your grant application or questions to a session and receive personal assistance by a Sponsored Projects Administration staff member. The lab is open to all members of the University of Minnesota community and no prior registration is required. For more information, visit http://tiny.cc/H2cFg.

2. Institute for Engineering in Medicine Innovation Showcase

The Institute for Engineering in Medicine Innovation Showcase will take place on September 22, 2009, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the McNamara Alumni Center.

The Showcase will present a variety of interdisciplinary research between engineering and medical fields using a broad spectrum of resources available at the University. Attendees will include local industry representatives, faculty, students working on research projects, graduate students, and alumni.
 
This is a casual networking event and will include a short program on innovations resulting from IEM sponsored research by two or three major research teams. There will also be short presentations by early stage top exhibitors, poster presentations and University table top exhibitors.

    • Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy: Development of Algal/Advanced Biofuels Consortia (Deadline: September 14)
    • Department of Commerce: Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (Deadline: August 14)

  • The Fondation Leducq's Transatlantic Networks of Excellence in Cardiovascular Research Program awards up to U.S. $6 million over five years to internationally collaborative research teams, who work together to advance our knowledge and treatment of cardiovascular and neurovascular disease. Prospective networks must submit an expression of interest that outlines the theme of the proposed research and the organization of the network. For details, visit www.flcq.org.

  • The Ovarian Cancer Research Program has announced the Ovarian Cancer Academy Dean Award. The program encourages the nomination (or self-nomination) of visionary individuals who are established ovarian cancer researchers with a strong record of mentoring and a commitment to leadership to apply. In addition to leading the Ovarian Cancer Academy, the Academy Dean will be recognized with the lifelong title of DOD Ovarian Cancer Research Professorship. For details, visit http://tiny.cc/sWZS9.
