1. Training Schedule for Electronic Research Systems

 

The Spring 2009 training schedule for electronic research systems, including Adobe forms, Proposal Routing Form (PRF), eRA Commons, Grants.gov, eSNAP, xTrain and EGMS is available at http://www.ospa.umn.edu/GrantGov/Schedules%20and%20Calendars/trainingschedule.html. New courses, a short synopsis of each course, and the suggested audience have been added to the site. To register, e-mail ersstraining@umn.edu.

2. Research Animal Resources Customer Satisfaction Survey

 

Research Animal Resources (RAR) is conducting a customer satisfaction survey. The survey will take only ten minutes and will provide valuable information that will help RAR better serve the University community. Although you will be asked to provide your x.500 for login, your responses will not be linked to your identifying information. The survey is hosted by the Office of Measurement Services (OMS) and your x.500 will only be used for tracking and sub group analysis. All identifying information will be removed by OMS before being returned to RAR. Participation is voluntary and confidential. Please access the survey at http://oms.umn.edu/link/rar_survey_2008.cfm. The deadline to complete the survey is January 16, 2009.

  • The Graduate School's Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry and Scholarship
    program promotes the scholarly and artistic activities of the faculty and their graduate students and fosters academic excellence within the University. For details, visit

  • The National Science Foundation's Human Origins: Moving In New Directions (HOMINID) award is directed towards increasing our knowledge of the complex biological, physical, and behavioral interrelationships that led to the development of our species and that are responsible for both the shared and variable features that characterize living human populations. It recognizes that understanding of the processes and pathways of human evolution requires input from a wide range of disciplines which examine our species from multiple perspectives and across both time and space.   • The Arete Initiative at the University of Chicago announces a new $3 million research program on a New Science of Virtues. This is a multidisciplinary research initiative that seeks contributions from individuals and from teams of investigators working within the humanities and the sciences.   • The National Institutes of Health's Reducing Mental Illness Stigma and Discrimination program provides funding for partnerships to assess the effectiveness of existing stigma and discrimination reduction programs and approaches, including media-oriented approaches such as public service announcements; develop innovative new programs and approaches; and examine the role of media in perpetuating and changing mental illness stigma and discrimination.
