New Master Cooperative
Agreement Between U and Hennepin County
To address bureaucratic
and legal hassles associated with contracting, a Master Cooperative
Agreement between Hennepin County and the University of Minnesota
has been developed to streamline the process by which the two organizations
initiate joint research projects.
The Master Cooperative Agreement will save University and Hennepin
staff weeks or months of work by eliminating the need to renegotiate
contract terms for every collaborative project. Rather, work will
be outlined and approved with a simple “work order.”
The work order template will be accessible online, along with clear
instructions on how to prepare the paperwork.
For more information about the agreement please contact Steve Louie
at 612.348.2591 or steve.louie@co.hennepin.mn.us.
If you would like more information about the Hennepin-University
Partnership or recent Hennepin-University collaborations, visit

EGMS Proposal Prep Work Groups
A note of caution: when work groups are deleted it removes access
to all work group users. There is no policy on how long work groups
should be retained or what members should be part of the group;
this remains at the discretion of the initiator and their unit.

Office for Technology Commercialization Restructuring
The Office for Technology Commercialization (OTC) is nearing completion
of its restructuring begun several months ago. The most recent changes
are designed to reinvigorate and refocus OTC to better align with
the new value-based approach to technology commercialization at
the University of Minnesota. The reorganization enables OTC to better
support researchers throughout the commercialization process, and
more efficiently move University-based discoveries and innovations
into the public marketplace while providing a fair financial return
to the University. For more information, go to http://www.research.umn.edu/communications/news/restructuring_otc.html.
